The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is committed to the highest quality of education for all of our students, as well as the best outcomes. In addition to other scholarship and financial assistance opportunities avilable to UA students, MCB undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for departmental scholarships and awards. MCB provides as many recurring and ad hoc opportunities as possible, based on available funding.
For undergraduate students, MCB awards the Danny Brower Memorial Scholarship on an annual basis and determines the recipients of College of Science Galileo Circle Scholarships designated for MCB majors. In addition, MCB is awards the Dottie Sams Memorial Scholarship in the Fall. Seniors also are eligible for the Outstanding Senior Award, presented each semester, and the Excellence in Research Award, presented annually.
For graduate students, MCB also determines the recipients of College of Science Galileo Circle Scholarships designated for MCB students. In addition, MCB offers a Science Jump Start Award to encourage creativity in research, domestic and international travel awards in support of professional development, and an Outstanding Dissertation Award recognizing excellence in scholarship, research, and writing.
