In a paper recently published in FEMS Microbiology Ecology, authors Emily M Waggoner, Kahina Djaoudi, Julia M Diaz, and Solange Duhamel explore how the common marine cyanobacterium, Synechococcus, uses different types of dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) compounds, which are crucial nutrients in ocean ecosystems.

In a recent study by the Paek lab on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) stress, Elizabeth Jose and colleagues discovered a dose-dependent switch in which transcription factors are activated by H2O2.

Congratulations to Sun Woo Kim, MCB’s 2024 Outstanding Senior, an award is presented to a graduating MCB senior who has demonstrated excellence in MCB studies. Sun Woo Kim graduated with majors in MCB, Physiology and Medical Sciences and double minors in Biochemistry and Emergency Medical Services.
