What was your reaction when you learned you were the award winner?

I was super excited when I learned about the award. It is truly an honor to represent the MCB class of 2025. This award was a great recognition of all my hard work and my love of the department.

Can you share a memorable experience or highlight from your time at MCB that you believe influenced your journey to receiving this award?

Serving as an MCB mentor has been one of my favorite things from my four years. Over the years I have been a mentee and have now mentored 4 wonderful young ladies. I have loved getting to share everything about MCB and college life with them and seeing them thrive here. This community that MCB has makes it even more of an honor to receive this award.

Who or what has been the biggest source of inspiration or support for you during your university journey? Tell me a bit about why!

My family, friends, and boyfriend have been such huge supporters of me through this journey. I truly could not have accomplished what I have without them. I am also very grateful for the professors I have connected with. They have all been amazing mentors in both life and academics.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I will be attending the University of Arizona to complete a master's in Genetic Counseling. I hope to specialize in fertility and prenatal genetic counseling to help support the women and families facing infertility.

How do you plan to utilize what you've learned at university and in MCB in your future endeavors?

The things I have learned in MCB will be crucial to continuing my education. MCB has created a great foundation of genetics and bioethics, both of which I will use everyday in both my master's and my future jobs. As a whole university has also taught me so much about time management, communication, and leadership which are all invaluable skills to have post graduation.
