The 2024 Excellence in Undergraduate Research was awarded to Harvey Ortiz! This award is presented to an MCB senior who has demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate research.

Congratulations to Nick Mortimore, who was recently awarded a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship! This prestigious award is designed to help ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States.

Dr. Lisa Elfring, Vice Provost for Instruction and Assessment in the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT), Specialist in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Associate Professor at the BIO5 Institute, has been selected for the University of Arizona Koffler Prize.

Emily Waggoner, a Ph.D. candidate in The Duhamel Lab, is one of 100 doctoral students in the U. S. and Canada selected to receive a $25,000 Scholar Award from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was sponsored by Chapter BB of Tucson, Arizona.

The National Academy of Inventors has named five University of Arizona faculty members as Class of 2024 Senior Members. Among them: Joyce Schroeder, Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, and Genetics, College of Science, BIO5 Institute, Arizona Cancer Center.

The College of Science is celebrating Black History Month by featuring some of the College’s outstanding faculty and students. First is Dr. Corin V. Gray, an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.

This fall, each department in the University of Arizona's College of Science nominated an outstanding senior who went above and beyond during their time as a Wildcat. The MCB Department is pleased to share our outstanding senior Ms. Sofia Ragonese's story as she reflects on her time at UArizona and her amazing experience at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology!

This award is given by the College of Science to recognize one advisor who demonstrates outstanding, extensive, and continuous involvement in undergraduate advising.

Susan Hester, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Practice, Molecular and Cellular Biology, received the Distinguished Achievement in Science Education Award of the College of Science.
