Two MCB PhD students were named 2021-22 UA ARCS Foundation Scholars!

Emily Waggoner, PhD student in The Duhamel Lab is packing her bags to go on a research cruise.

When two MCB graduate students began working together on a simple cell culture project, they had no idea that 10 years later they would be married with two kids and running a brand new business together in regulatory intelligence.

Dr. Solange Duhamel (Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology) and Dr Christopher Hamilton (Lunar and Planetory Laboratory), based at the University of Arizona, recently wrote an article "How microbes in Iceland can teach us about possible life on Mars" for Futurum Careers

Philo is a sophomore at the University of Arizona, a double major in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Microbiology, and is one of our many students doing science research in a lab at the University.

Researchers, including MCB's Biological Oceanographer Dr. Solange Duhamel, studied species of green algae to understand if the algae feed on bacteria. Their study provided definitive proof this occurs and was published in The ISME Journal

Dr. Hui Yang, a postdoc in Dr. Solange Duhamel's lab, was recently awarded one of eight Postdoctoral Fellowships by the BIO5 institute.
