I originally entered the College of Life Sciences hoping that my degree would one day lead me to medical school. At 18, I had high hopes for working as a neurosurgeon.

Six short years ago I graduated from the University of Arizona as a 2008 recipient of a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics awarded the University of Arizona a three year ASPET Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) grant in the spring of 2014. 

Majoring in both Molecular & Cellular Biology and Creative Writing, Julie also works as a science reporter for the Arizona Daily Wildcat, is Editor-in-Chief for Persona, helps out her parents at their restaurant, conducts research as a student in the Undergraduate Biology Research Program in Dr. Johnny Fares' lab.

She is a Molecular and Cellular Biology senior pursuing minors in Biochemistry and Microbiology who's conducted significant research in the lab.

Assistant Professor Guang Yao's research on reading the `minds' of cells has been highlighted in the Arizona Daily Star.

Ryan Gutenkunst has been awarded the 2013 College of Science Distinguished Early-Career Teaching Award. The award recognizes Prof. Gutenkunst's educational efforts both on-campus and off-campus.

Congratulations to Aishan Shi, who has been named the 2013 MCB Outstanding Senior.
