Additional major, minor: double majoring in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NSCS) and MCB, minors in Health and Human Values and Biochemistry.

Research lab: I work in Dr. Shaowen Bao’s lab, where we use mice to study how PV (parvalbumin) neurons die. PV neurons are inhibitory interneurons that play an important role in regulating excitation and inhibition in the brain. Our research focuses on the dorsal and ventral hippocampus and examines the relationship between PV neuron loss and hearing loss.

Clubs and other activities: I volunteer with Banner Health and Tu Nidito, serve as a General Chemistry preceptor, and conduct reproductive health research at El Rio as part of my Health and Human Values internship.

The best thing about being an ambassador: introducing incoming freshmen to the MCB major and helping them learn about the interesting opportunities it offers.

Favorite classes: Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry.
