Seminar Title: "Spatial-temporal modeling of mechanochemistry of cellular processes"
When
Nov. 10, 2026, 3:30 – 4:45 p.m.
Where
ENR2, Room S107
Presenter Details
Jian Liu, Associate Professor, Department of Cell Biology and Center for Cell Dynamics, School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University
Seminar Information
How do cells sense and respond to physical forces? Dr. Jian Liu’s research explores the fascinating interplay between mechanics and biochemistry in living cells, asking how mechanical cues shape cell behavior, movement, division, and transport. By combining theoretical and computational tools with biological experiments, he investigates how cells integrate physical and chemical signals to regulate complex feedback processes in space and time. In this seminar, Dr. Liu will highlight his recent studies on the mechanosensation of focal adhesion dynamics.
