This fall, each department in the University of Arizona's College of Science nominated an outstanding senior who went above and beyond during their time as a Wildcat. The MCB Department is pleased to share our outstanding senior Ms. Sofia Ragonese's story as she reflects on her time at UArizona and her amazing experience at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology!

This award is given by the College of Science to recognize one advisor who demonstrates outstanding, extensive, and continuous involvement in undergraduate advising.

Susan Hester, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Practice, Molecular and Cellular Biology, received the Distinguished Achievement in Science Education Award of the College of Science.

Dr. Megha Padi, Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology; Co-Director of the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource at the Arizona Cancer Center, received a Galileo Circle Curie Award 2024.

Researchers at the University of Arizona and Penn State University are looking to the sea for inspiration on how to capture methane and convert it into energy or valuable chemicals.

Every year, the College of Science recognizes outstanding faculty and advisors for their noteworthy participation in representing and contributing to the teaching and advising mission of the University of Arizona. This year, Ted Weinert, Professor in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Department, has been awarded the UA College of Science Distinguished Career Teaching Award.

Colin J Potter, a Tucson native and 2018 graduate with a double major in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science and Molecular & Cellular Biology, had no second thoughts about continuing his education post-graduation.

Ben Van Maren, a Tucson native and 2017 graduate from the University of Arizona, studied Molecular and Cellular Biology as an undergraduate in the College of Science. He is now a medical student in the College of Medicine here at U of A.
