About DEI Page Head

We acknowledge that the University of Arizona is on the land and territories taken by force from Indigenous peoples. Tucson is the historical home to the O’odham, Yaqui, and nomadic tribes such as the Maricopa and Apache. We understand that our teaching and research activities rely on these lands, and that the university has no intent to return them or make reparations for their use. It is therefore the responsibility of the beneficiaries (the individual students and employees of the university) to acknowledge the privilege that comes from previous colonization, to be responsible stewards, and to work to reduce ongoing racism and inequities in our thoughts, speech, and actions.

If you seek more information on the university’s land grant status and how it’s affected Indigenous peoples of Arizona, please visit this webpage: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/913da25f6c3d46658690c3800bfef48e

The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) recognizes that diverse perspectives, cultures, and experiences make science and our scientific community stronger. However, we acknowledge the existence of discrimination, implicit bias and under-representation in science, and realize that ongoing marginalization is ongoing injustice. Therefore, we welcome and support students and researchers regardless of race, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability status. Our mission is to create an inclusive anti-racist environment to conduct our research, teaching, and outreach activities through education, training, and the critical review of our behaviors and institutional policies.
