Welcome to the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona. We are a vibrant and growing community, whose teaching and research mutually guide our quest for knowledge about life.
Our research spans a vast range of scales: from genetic information and biomolecular machines to cellular behaviors and complex tissues. At all scales, we focus on how key molecules and cells are organized, regulated, and networked to understand their evolution, function, and malfunction. Our research builds fundamental insight and translates into treating diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration, and aging. Our breadth and welcoming culture make us an intellectual hub within the University and the greater Tucson community. Together, our faculty and students are honored to learn about and contribute to the accelerating science of biology, from its smallest to largest scales.
