MCB Joint Seminar: Lukasz Bugaj "Perturb to Understand: optical and thermal control of condensation, signaling, and cell behavior"

When

11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., Feb. 11, 2025

Where

Harvill, Room 204

Presenter Details

Lukasz Bugaj

Seminar Information

The Bugaj Lab engineers precision tools to manipulate living cells, with a focus on protein condensation, cell signaling, and cancer biology. I will highlight our recent work on new protein switches that respond to changes in light or temperature, which collectively allow dynamic, non-invasive control of cells in culture and deep within animal tissues. I will then describe how these and other tools help us understand protein condensation and signaling in cancer, with a focus on receptor tyrosine kinase fusion oncoproteins. I will detail our findings on the role of condensation in oncogenic signaling and in the development of drug resistance.
