Advising Frequently Asked Questions

A: This information can be found on the home page in UAccess Student in the “Advisor” box on the right-hand side of the page. You can also find advisor locations and scheduling information for advisors across the UA here.

A: You will need to schedule an appointment with one of the MCB Advisors. 

A: You will need to meet with the advisor for the major or minor that you are interested in adding. You can find information for other advisors across the UA here.

A: Priority Registration is designated time period in which students register for the next semester’s courses. Each student is assigned an enrollment appointment based on current class standing and other student groups, such as Veteran, Athletics, and Honors. Enrollment appointments are available on the UAccess Student home page in the Enrollments Dates box. A schedule for priority registration can be found on the Registrar’s website here. MCB students are encouraged to meet with their advisors a week before their enrollment appointment.

A: Class standing is based on the number of units completed. You can find more information in the UA Catalog here. You could be in your second year at the UA but be classified as a senior based on the number of completed units you have!
Freshman = 1 to 29 units completed
Sophomore = 30 to 59 units completed
Junior = 60 to 89 units completed
Senior = 90+ units completed

A: Please see the information on our Undergraduate Research page here. We do not place students into labs, but are happy to provide assistance and guidance. Please schedule and appointment with Kara or Justin to discuss strategies for finding research opportunities.

A: Summer and winter course registration is different than registering for fall and spring courses. You can find more information here.

A: You can use the Credit Evaluation webpage to have course evaluated. Contact Math and English directly for courses in those subjects.

A: You can use the Transfer Credit and Articulation for any in-state, public institution to check on the articulation of transfer coursework. This does not necessarily indicate how these courses meet degree requirements. Please follow up with your advisor for more specific information.

A: A grade replacement opportunity (GRO) offers students the ability to replace grades of C, D, or E by retaking the course. The second grade earn will be used in your UA GPA. You can find more information here.

A: You can find all Dates and Deadlines on the Registrar’s website here. Be sure to check the start time for each course, as different start times have different Dates and Deadlines.

A: You can check your Transfer Credit Report from the home page on UAccess Student. You can also use the UA Catalog to see what scores are accepted and possible credit to be earned.

A: “Although there is not a “pre-med” major at UArizona, there are some majors that will allow you to complete pre-health pre-requisite courses needed for application to medical school (or other health related schools) as part of your degree requirements.  MCB is one of those degrees!  We complete almost all of the pre-requisite courses needed for pre-health schools, click here to learn more.
