Research Topic:

I am interested in understanding how students learn and in doing so, I hope to improve science education. My research investigates how students connect data to models, how students' cognition and affective learning are influenced, as well as how curriculum design can maximize student learning outcomes in molecular and cellular biology.

Growing up in northwest inspired a love for the outdoors and being active. Whether it's winter sports, hiking, doing crossfit, playing any sport with a ball or camping, I am reinvigorated when I'm outdoors being active. If I am lucky enough to do these activities with my family and a dog in tow, the time spent is invaluable.

Other interests of mine include, sampling local eats, wine and beer-tasting, traveling, animals, yoga, gardening, cooking, morning coffee, and live music.

I'm passionate about helping people learn. One of the ways that I am currently doing this is by helping children learn English as a second language.
