Graduate students entering this program have the opportunity to begin their training in science education research during their first year of study. Coursework for the Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with Emphasis in Science Education includes those courses taken by all MCB graduate students as well as courses in science education and education research methods.
Students will work with MCB faculty whose research is focused in Science Education. In addition students may choose to work in a collaborative education research project with one of these faculty members and another member of the MCB Faculty. In addition, UA has a strong community of STEM-education scholars, and MCB students may interact with scholars of education in chemistry, physics, or engineering during their studies.

Dr. Katie Southard, mentored by Dr. Molly Bolger, is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Patricia Zagallo, mentored by Dr. Molly Bolger, is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Lisa Montplaisir is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and School of Education at North Dakota State University.
Dr. Erika Offerdahl is an Associate Professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences at Washington State University.
Dr. Athena Ganchorre is the Director of the Office of Student Development and a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine.
Dr. Marilyne Stains is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. LaKeisha McClary is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at The George Washington University.
