A W.A. Franke Honors College student, Natalie Rawlings, has been named a 2025-26 Astronaut Scholar by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

The Schroeder lab recently discovered that nuclear EGFR (nEGFR) prevents detection of breast cancer by Natural Killer (NK) cells. NK cells can seek out and destroy any cancer cells they can recognize, and the ability of nEGFR is a mechanism used by breast cancer to evade this arm of the immune system.
