Saumya Ramanathan
Bio: Saumya grew up in India and went to college at the University of Madras for both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Zoology/Immunology. During this time she carried out research examining Prolactin levels in pregnant women using ELISA. At the U of A she joined the Montfort lab where she looks at the regulation of the intra-cellular Nitric Oxide receptor,soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) in a cellular context. Specifically, studying the role of phosphorylation, calcium ions and protein-protein interactions in the regulation of sGC.
Favorites things about Tucson: What I love about Tuscon is that there is no threat of hurricanes..no evacuations..I love that people are so laid-back. The program has very very approachable faculty.
